2nd Alarm Apartment Fire/W Rescue (Box 51-19)

On Thursday September 8th At Approximately 19:30hrs Ambulance 515 Was Clearing A Medical Call In The First Due And On The Way Back To The Station When The Crew Members Spotted A Heavy Black Column Of Smoke. Before They Were Able To Radio It In To Dispatch The Call Was Being Put Out Over The Radio For A Possible Apartment Fire In The Unit Blk Of Eddystone Place Off Sharondale Way & Middleborough Rd. Ambulance 515 Was First Arriving Unit On Scene Advising They Had Heavy Fire Through The Roof On The Alpha-Delta Corner Of A 3 Story Garden Style Apartment Building With Reports Of People Still Inside. Due To The High Occupancy & Reports Of Entrapment The Fire Rescue Box Assignment Was Requested Adding Additional Units To The Call. Ambulance 515 Began Assisting In Evacuating The Building And Came Apon A Cat Which Was Taken To The Ambulance And Kept Accompanied By The EMTs, Engine 511 Arrived And Pulled A Backup Line Off Engine 7 To Side Alpha And Shortly After Established Rapid Intervention Taskforce Aswell As Assisting Truck 15 With Throwing Ladders. Fire Crews Requested A 2nd Alarm Assignment Due To Heavy Fire Throughout The Building And Shortly After The Fire Was Knocked Down & Placed Under Control In Under 30 Minutes. Crew Members Were Able To Reunite The Cat With His Family And Learned His Name Was “Moonpie”. Station 51 Units Remained On Scene For Approximately 3 Hours Before Wrapping Up And Returning To Station.
