On Friday December 23rd At Around 6:00PM Essex Volunteers Were Getting Ready For Another Night Of Our Annual Santa Detail When A Call For Service Was Received Reporting A Possible Residential Structure Fire In The 1600Blk Of Poles Rd. Members Quickly Dropped Everything Geared Up & Hopped On The Equipment And Within 45 Seconds Engine 511, Engine 512 & Ambulance 515 Were All On The Road! Engine 512 Was First On Scene To Find A 2 Story End Of Group With Nothing Showing From The Exterior, Ambulance 515 Assisted With Traffic Control As Well As Standing By While Engine 511 Established RIT. As Crews Started To Make The Push An Updated Status Was Given Upgrading To Smoke Showing From The Front Door With An Active Kitchen Fire On Division 1 Engine 512s Personnel Was Able To Get A Quick Knock On The Fire And Placed The Fire Under Control In Under 10 Minutes Of The Initial Dispatch However Crews Remained On The Fireground For About A Hour An A Half Wrapping Up Before Returning In Service And Catching Up With The Rest Of Station 51 Units Who Were Escorting Santa Around The Community.
